Rob Sly is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), a professional designation awarded by the American Society of Appraisers, and is tested and certified in Business Valuation.  He has over 20 years of full-time experience performing business valuations, which includes experience testifying as an expert witness.  He has been accepted as an expert witness, testifying on behalf of clients in the area of business valuation and damages calculations, in Utah, Nevada, and Florida.

He received a Masters of Business Administration degree from Brigham Young University in 2001 and a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in communications from Brigham Young University in 1997.

He joined Business Valuation, Inc. as the Director of Valuations and Litigation Support in June 2015.  He specialized in business valuations and financial analysis associated with divorce, mergers and acquisitions, estate and gift purposes, financial reporting, management planning, and litigation support, among other purposes.  He also specializes in financial forecasting and detailed/ complex financial modeling, including complex commercial litigation and damages calculations.

Rob worked at WSRP, LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah from 2003 to 2015 where he managed business valuation engagements associated with the purchase and sale of a business, mergers and acquisitions, estate and gift taxes, financial reporting, divorce, shareholder disputes, damages, and litigation support, among other purposes.

Prior to joining WSRP, LLC, he spent over two years working in the San Francisco Valuations Group at Deloitte.  While at Deloitte, Rob obtained extensive experience conducting purchase price allocations, shareholder equity valuations, intangible asset valuations, and goodwill impairment analysis for a variety of companies in a variety of industries.  Rob has experience performing valuation analyses for some of the largest, publicly-traded companies in the technology and biotechnology fields.

Prior to working at Deloitte, he performed valuation analyses related to a business development opportunity at Franklin Templeton Bank & Trust.
